What is TopDrama?

TopDrama is a vertical short-drama app for Android, published on Google Play under the developer handle tianjihh. Its own description says it offers romance, suspense, revenge, family conflict and emotional stories in short episodes, and nothing beyond that.

The format is the category standard: minute-long episodes, vertical video, designed for commutes and short breaks. What is not standard is the listing itself, and that is what most of this page is about — because the questions people actually type into Google about this app are "is top drama legit", "is top drama real" and "does top drama pay", not "what genres does it have".

Is TopDrama legit?

TopDrama is a genuine app on the official Google Play Store, and we found no evidence of fraud. It passed Google's automated review, it is not a sideloaded APK, and it has been updated recently — the last release we recorded is 24 September 2026.

That is where verifiable trust ends. The listing is missing three things that every comparable app publishes: a star rating, a review count, and the name of a company. You are therefore being asked to trust an app on the strength of its download counter alone.

An honest answer to "is it legit" is: it is real, it is distributed legitimately, and there is not enough public information to say more than that. Anyone telling you confidently that it is a scam is guessing, and so is anyone telling you confidently that it is safe.

Why does TopDrama have no rating?

Google Play hides the star rating when an app has too few reviews to compute one. That is the mechanical explanation, and for a new app it would be unremarkable. TopDrama is not new and not small: the same listing shows more than five million downloads.

How the missing rating compares with the category

For scale, FreeReels has 1.93 million reviews, Melolo has 3.33 million and MoboReels has 713,000. TopDrama shows none. The listing offers no explanation and we will not invent one — a rating can be absent because reviews were removed, because the install base does not review, or for reasons Google does not publish.

What matters practically is the consequence: the single most useful signal for judging an app is unavailable here.

Who is tianjihh?

Google Play gives the developer name as "tianjihh" with no company, no registered entity and no country. That is legal — Play allows individual developer accounts — but it is unusual in this category.

Why a named company matters for a refund

Why it matters is concrete rather than abstract. If a charge appears on your card and the app will not refund it, the counterparty you can escalate to is the legal entity. A handle is not a counterparty.

What do 5 million downloads actually prove?

Download counts measure installs, not satisfaction. Google Play counts a download when the app is installed, and the bracket never goes down — uninstalling does not decrement it.

So "5M+" tells you the app has been pushed to a lot of devices. It does not tell you how many people kept it, paid inside it, or would recommend it. That is exactly what star ratings are for, which brings the argument back to the missing rating.

Is TopDrama on iPhone?

No. We queried the Apple lookup API and searched the US App Store on September 30, 2026 and found no TopDrama listing.

This has a practical consequence worth spelling out: any page offering a "TopDrama for iOS" download is not distributing the publisher's app. On iPhone the closest equivalents that genuinely exist are DramaBox, ReelShort and ShortMax.

What data does TopDrama collect?

Its own data safety declaration lists three categories: location, app info and performance, and device or other identifiers. It declares that no data is shared with third parties and that data is encrypted in transit.

Two of those three are ordinary. App performance data and device identifiers are collected by essentially every streaming app for crash reporting and session continuity.

The location permission, specifically

Location is the one to think about. A vertical video player does not need your location to play video. There are legitimate reasons an app might collect it — regional licensing, ad targeting, fraud checks — and TopDrama does not say which applies. On Android you can install the app and simply deny the location permission; if playback then works normally, the permission was not required for the feature you came for.

Why is TopDrama rated Everyone?

Content ratings on Google Play come from a questionnaire the developer fills in, not from anyone watching the catalogue. TopDrama's answers produced an Everyone rating.

What this means if you are installing for a child

Short drama as a genre runs on infidelity, revenge, violence and sexual tension. An Everyone rating on that catalogue is a mismatch. If you are installing for a child on the strength of that badge, watch an episode or two yourself first.

What does Google itself think TopDrama is?

There is a quiet signal on the listing that most readers never look at: the Similar apps row. Google populates it from behavioural and categorical similarity.

On the TopDrama page on September 30, 2026, that row contained a Polkadot crypto wallet, a voice-chat community app, a microtask platform, a private web browser and an AI assistant. Not one short drama app.

How the same row looks on DramaBox

On the DramaBox listing, by contrast, the same row is full of GoodShort, ReelShort, NetShort and FlexTV. The comparison does not prove anything on its own, but it does suggest Google's own systems have not clustered TopDrama with the category it describes itself as being in.

Does TopDrama have ads?

Yes — the listing carries the "Contains ads" label. What it does not carry is the "In-app purchases" label that every other app in our ranking has.

What an ad-funded model means for you

That combination points to an advertising-funded model rather than coins or subscriptions. If accurate, it is genuinely different from the rest of the category, where the money comes from unlocking episodes. We have not run the app to confirm how heavy the ad load is.

Does TopDrama pay you to watch?

Nothing in the official listing mentions earning, rewards, cash-out or withdrawals. The description is about watching short dramas and stops there.

Where the earning claims come from

We mention this because "does top drama pay" is one of the most common things people search alongside the app name. If you arrived from an advert promising money for watching, that promise is not made by the publisher on its own store page — and an earnings claim that exists only in an advert, never in the app listing, is the classic shape of a bait advert for something else entirely.

What does TopDrama cost?

Free to install, with ads, and no in-app purchases declared. We are not going to quote coin or subscription prices, because the listing declares none and inventing plausible numbers is how comparison sites become useless.

5. Does it exist on both stores? Single-platform is not disqualifying, but it halves the scrutiny the app has received.
6. Where does payment happen? Inside the store, or on the app's own web checkout — the second kind cannot be refunded by Apple or Google.
7. Are the "similar apps" actually similar? If Google shows you crypto wallets, its systems do not read the app the way the description does.

How to install TopDrama safely if you want to try it

1. Install only from the official Google Play listing linked in the Sources block below. Do not sideload an APK.
2. Deny the location permission when asked and see whether playback still works. It should.
3. Do not enter card details anywhere except Google Play's own payment sheet.
4. If you ever subscribe, cancel immediately afterwards — access runs to the end of the paid period either way.

What we found is an absence: no rating, no reviews, no company name, no iOS presence, a content rating that does not match the genre, and a location permission a video player does not need. Individually each has innocent explanations. Together they mean the ordinary evidence for trusting an app is not available here.

Our position is therefore narrow and, we think, honest. TopDrama is free and safe to try from the official store with location denied. It is not a sensible first choice, it has no place in a ranking that other apps earned with verifiable data, and it does not belong on a child's phone on the strength of an Everyone badge.
