Hooked on 1-minute vertical dramas? We tested the biggest short drama apps — free episodes, pricing, catalogs and app quality — and ranked the 20 best for 2026.

Short dramas are vertical mini-series filmed for your phone: 1–2 minute episodes, a cliffhanger every 60 seconds, and full seasons of 40–100 episodes you can finish in an evening. Every app below is free to download on Android and iOS, but they differ a lot in how many free episodes you get, what a subscription costs and what kind of stories they do best. Here is what we found after testing each one.
Ranking updated September 2026: six services joined the list — NetShort (4th), FlareFlow (8th), Sereal+ (15th), TouchShort (18th), SAGABOX (20th) and YourChannel (21st). NetShort and FlareFlow enter high on store data: NetShort holds 100M+ Google Play installs at 4.6★ and ranked third worldwide by downloads in Q1 2026, and FlareFlow passed 10M installs with 4.7★ on the App Store. Their scores are provisional until the full hands-on cycle completes. ShortPeak, SAGABOX and YourChannel are browser platforms rather than store apps, which is why they sit last. ShortPeak joined in October 2026 at 19th: it is the only service in the ranking that publishes its entire price list without a login, and the only one whose operating company is not named anywhere on its own site.
DramaBox tops our 2026 ranking because it does everything well. The DramaBox app has one of the largest short drama libraries anywhere — thousands of titles across billionaire romance, revenge, werewolf fantasy, mafia and family drama — with roughly 200 new releases added every month. You get free episodes every day and can unlock more by watching ads, so casual viewers can use DramaBox without ever paying.
For binge-watchers, DramaBox is also the value pick: subscriptions start at around $5.99 per week (with introductory offers often lower), which undercuts most rivals. Add smooth HD playback on Android, iOS and the web, and DramaBox is the app we recommend first to anyone new to short dramas. Visit DramaBox — official app → · Read our full DramaBox review
ReelShort is the app that made short dramas a global phenomenon, and it is still the quality leader. Unlike apps that mostly license dubbed imports, ReelShort produces its own English-language originals with strong casts and Hollywood-style production — hits like its billionaire and werewolf romance series regularly top app-store charts. If you want the best-looking, best-acted short dramas, ReelShort is the place to start.
The ReelShort app gives you the first 5–10 episodes of a series free, then lets you continue with coins, ads or a VIP subscription. It's available on Android, iOS and the web. Visit ReelShort — official app → · Read our full ReelShort review
ShortMax has exploded to more than 30 million monthly viewers, and it's easy to see why. The ShortMax app leans into the genres short drama fans binge hardest — revenge, secret identities, alpha romance — and refreshes its catalog constantly. Localization is a strong point too, with well-made subtitles and dubs across many languages.
ShortMax is generous with free content: daily free episodes, new-user coin bonuses and ad-supported unlocks mean you can watch a lot before spending anything. Visit ShortMax — official app → · Read our full ShortMax review
NetShort is the largest service we have added to the ranking since it launched: the Google Play listing shows 100M+ installs with a 4.6★ rating from about 1.3 million reviews, and the App Store version sits at 4.7★ (US storefront, September 2026). It is published by NETSTORY PTE. LTD. of Singapore, the overseas arm of Chongqing-based Maiya Media, and its site claims more than 45,000 short dramas. The catalog is mostly Chinese-produced series subtitled or dubbed into 17 languages — Hindi, Arabic, Turkish and Vietnamese included — with a growing slate of English-language originals.
You get free opening episodes, rewarded-ad unlocks and a daily check-in; after that it is coins (roughly 70–80 per episode) or a weekly VIP plan from $19.99, which is pricier than DramaBox. The recurring complaint in reviews is the weekly billing cycle being mistaken for monthly — read the plan screen carefully. Visit NetShort — official app → · Read our full NetShort review
GoodShort is the romance specialist of our top 10. The GoodShort catalog is built around CEO and billionaire love stories, contract marriages, sweet campus romance and fun character dynamics, delivered in crisp 1–2 minute HD episodes with frequent updates. If your ideal evening is a swoony, feel-good binge, GoodShort was made for you.
Daily check-in rewards earn you bonus coins, so patient viewers can work through series for free, while coin packs and subscriptions unlock everything instantly. GoodShort works on Android, iOS and the web. Visit GoodShort — official app → · Read our full GoodShort review
KalosTV stands out for language support. The Kalos TV app offers subtitles and dubbing in English, Spanish, French and a long list of other languages — including many that bigger apps ignore — which makes it the best choice for non-English speakers and multilingual households. The player is flexible too, letting you control the pace of the story.
Monetization is standard and transparent: coin packs for individual unlocks or a VIP subscription that opens the entire KalosTV catalog. Visit KalosTV — official app → · Read our full KalosTV review
FlickReels calls itself a "Short Drama Universe", and the name fits: it brings together Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Spanish and Thai productions in one app. That mix gives FlickReels a broader range of styles than most rivals — from werewolf thrillers to K-drama-flavored romance — with every episode under five minutes and new titles added daily.
Personalized recommendations quickly learn your taste, making FlickReels ideal for commutes and short breaks. Discover dramas on FlickReels → · Read our full FlickReels review
FlareFlow launched in April 2025 and belongs to COL Group, the Chinese-listed company that also owns a large stake in ReelShort — which explains the polished English-language originals shot in Los Angeles, New York, Canada and London. It passed 10M Google Play installs within a few months, holds 4.7★ on the App Store and 4.2★ on Google Play, and is the only newcomer with a dedicated TV app (FlareFlow TV for Google TV). Titles such as Mothering My Husband's Bastard and She Means Justice are its calling cards.
Around 10 episodes per series are free, then coins or an "Unlimited viewing" plan from $19.99 a week; there are daily check-in coins and rewarded ads. Reviewers praise the production value and playback controls but complain about ad walls and cancellation friction outside the App Store. Playlet has earned a 4.5-star average from more than 140,000 ratings with emotionally charged urban dramas, revenge plots and werewolf sagas. The Playlet app's biggest practical advantage is its ad-unlock system: if you don't mind watching ads, you can keep unlocking episodes without paying.
Coin prices for instant unlocks are on the higher side, so Playlet suits viewers who take the free, ad-supported route. Visit Playlet — official app → · Read our full Playlet review
StardustTV mixes romance, fantasy, revenge and suspense in HD, and keeps a generous share of its catalog free to watch. The platform experiments with AI-assisted production, which lets its studios stage bigger scenes and more imaginative stories than typical short drama budgets allow.
StardustTV works on phones, tablets and in the browser, so you can pick up an episode anywhere. Visit StardustTV — official app → · Read our full StardustTV review
Veloria takes the boutique approach: instead of flooding you with thousands of titles, Veloria handpicks a smaller selection of mesmerizing short dramas across romance, comedy, suspense and sci-fi. Its costume dramas and modern "sweet pet" romance titles are the highlights — polished stories you often won't find on the bigger apps.
If you'd rather browse a curated shelf than an endless feed, Veloria is a refreshing pick. Browse Veloria's collection → · Read our full Veloria review
StarShort sits mid-table with a catalog focused on female-lead stories: palace intrigue, historical romance, women's power and family drama. New titles arrive weekly, and free preview episodes let you sample a series before committing coins to it.
StarShort's niche focus makes it a strong second app for fans of historical and empowerment stories. Preview dramas on StarShort → · Read our full StarShort review
MoboReels covers more niches than almost any rival: beyond the usual billionaire romance and revenge, its catalog runs through mafia sagas, twin-swap stories, time travel, miracle doctors, fantasy and even martial-arts legends. A 4.6-star average from more than 38,000 users backs up the breadth, and new episodes land daily with personalized recommendations.
Practical touches stand out: multi-language subtitles and adjustable playback speed from 0.75× to 2× — rare in this category. If your taste goes beyond romance, MoboReels is the app to sample. Visit MoboReels — official app → · Read our full MoboReels review
TopShort delivers mini-dramas mainly from Asia, and it is one of the few apps in our ranking whose interface ships in Japanese, Korean and Chinese as well as English. The catalog leans into sweet romance — hidden billionaires, accidental marriages — with 1-minute episodes and full series available at once, so there's no waiting for weekly updates.
If you specifically want Korean- and Japanese-flavored short dramas alongside the Chinese standards, TopShort is a natural pick. Visit TopShort — official app → · Read our full TopShort review
Sereal+ is COL Group's older, more Asia-facing app: it launched in December 2023 and mixes Korean, Japanese, Indonesian and South Asian dramas with English originals such as Once Upon a Divorce and Dracula's Kiss. Google Play shows 10M+ installs, and the App Store rating is a solid 4.5★ from about 14,000 ratings, although the Google Play score is a weaker 3.3★. There is a web player at sereal.com.
Expect about five free episodes per series, up to five ad unlocks a day, then coins (~50–60 per episode) or weekly VIP from $12.99. One caveat we flag: neither store listing has been updated since July 2025, and users report fewer new originals — check the shelf before you subscribe. Visit Sereal+ — official app → · Read our full Sereal+ review
HoneyReels curates a clean, well-categorized library of sweet romance and costume dramas in sharp HD, with an interface users consistently praise as smooth and effortless. Episodes are tightly timed for coffee-break viewing, and frequent updates keep the front page fresh.
Its plans (weekly and monthly) come with daily check-in bonus coins; heavier viewers should compare plan prices against rivals before committing, as HoneyReels sits at the premium end. Visit HoneyReels — official app → · Read our full HoneyReels review
Footage closes the original 14 with a catalog that goes darker than most: alongside costume and modern-city romance you'll find comeback ("reverse assault") plots and end-of-times survival stories you won't see on romance-first apps. The interface is localized into seven languages, including Japanese, Korean, Thai, Indonesian and Dutch.
The first episodes of popular series are free, so you can try before paying — subscriptions are billed weekly or monthly. Visit Footage — official app → · Read our full Footage review
TouchShort (listed as TouchShort-TV on the App Store) is a smaller Chinese-run app from Hong Kong Touch Culture Communication that serves novel-adapted dramas with English subtitles — CEO romance, werewolf and vampire fantasy, revenge and time travel. It is rated 4.6★ on the App Store (about 1,200 ratings) and 4.3★ on Google Play with 100K+ installs, and the interface is available in nine languages including Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese and Korean.
Its headline number is price: weekly VIP starts at $9.99, the lowest in this ranking, with free trial episodes, daily check-in coins and ad bonuses on top. Reviews are mixed on reliability — freezing playback and cancellation problems come up — so treat it as a budget second app rather than your main one. Visit TouchShort — official app → · Read our full TouchShort review
ShortPeak (shortpeak.tv) is a browser platform, not a store app: we searched the US and Philippine App Stores and found no listing, and the service’s own help page says it runs in a tab on phone, tablet or desktop. The catalogue is small and real — we counted 138 titles and 4,479 episodes from its sitemap, median 31 episodes a title, with pages updated every few days through the fortnight before we checked. Ten interface languages are declared.
What sets it apart is pricing. Open shortpeak.tv/vip logged out and the complete list is there: VIP at $15.99 weekly, $47.99 monthly or $149 yearly, and five coin packs from $4.79 for 300 to $44.99 for 5,400. Almost nobody else in this ranking will show you that before you hit a paywall. One practical consequence: a median series costs 1,400 coins, or $19.18 at the best coin price — so the $15.99 weekly pass is cheaper than buying one series and throws in the other 137.
Two things hold the score at 7.3. The recommendation badges mislead: “Popular” sits on the costliest coins per unit, “Best value” on a pack that is beaten by the unbadged one below it, and “Best deal” on the plan that works out at $2.28 a day against $0.41 for yearly. And no company is named anywhere — Terms, Privacy, Refund, DMCA and Contact all still open with “Draft. Company registration and contact details are not published yet”, a month after they were dated. Cards run through Stripe, which helps, but there is no store to refund you and no entity to name if something goes wrong. Visit ShortPeak — official site → · Read our full ShortPeak review
SAGABOX is different from everything above it: there is no App Store or Google Play listing. It is a website, sagabox.tv, that streams AI-generated vertical short films — about 350 titles at the time of writing, mostly romance, mafia and werewolf stories — alongside AI comics, and it can be pinned to your home screen like an app. Because the content is machine-generated it looks and moves differently from the live-action dramas elsewhere on this list.
The economics are the cheapest we have seen: the first five episodes of every title are free, further episodes cost 20 coins, coin packs start at $2.69 and a weekly VIP promo runs from $2.89. Two cautions: the catalog leans adult and has no age gate, and the operator does not publish company details or terms, so pay with a card you can monitor. Visit SAGABOX — official site → · Read our full SAGABOX review
YourChannel (yourchannel.ai) is the newest and smallest entry: a browser platform that puts short dramas, creator "channels" and web novels under one roof, so you can watch an episode and read a chapter in the same tab. The catalog is creator-driven — mafia romance, werewolf and alpha stories, BL series and AI-animated comic dramas from small studios — and it installs as a progressive web app rather than through the stores.
Opening episodes and chapters are free and further content is unlocked with points; we could not verify published prices or an operating company, and the site has no analyst coverage yet, which is why it sits at 20. Worth a look if you want dramas and novels together; not yet a replacement for the leaders. Visit YourChannel — official site → · Read our full YourChannel review

A short drama app streams vertical mini-series filmed for phones. Episodes run 1–2 minutes and end on cliffhangers, and a full series typically has 40–100 episodes. Popular examples include DramaBox, ReelShort and ShortMax.
DramaBox is free to download and gives you free daily episodes, plus the option to unlock more by watching ads. Full series can be unlocked with coins or a subscription, which starts at around $5.99 per week.
ReelShort typically lets you watch the first 5–10 episodes of a series for free. After that you unlock episodes with coins, ads or a VIP subscription.
In our 2026 testing DramaBox scored highest overall (9.8/10) thanks to its huge library and subscription value, followed by ReelShort (9.6) for original English-language productions and ShortMax (9.4) for its fast-growing free catalog.
Most short drama apps sell virtual coins that you spend to unlock individual episodes. Apps also give free coins through daily check-ins, ads and new-user bonuses. If you watch a lot, a weekly or annual subscription is usually cheaper than buying coins per episode.
Yes. Most major short drama apps — including DramaBox, ReelShort, GoodShort and StardustTV — also offer web versions, so you can watch in a browser on your computer as well as on Android and iOS.
GoodShort leans most heavily into romance — CEO, billionaire and sweet love stories — while ReelShort produces the best-known original romance hits and DramaBox has the largest overall romance catalog.
TopDrama is a real Android app on Google Play with more than 5 million downloads, published by a company Google Play names as Beijing Tianji Haohai Technology Co., Ltd. It is not in our ranking: its listing shows no star rating and no reviews, and it has no iPhone version, so we have no basis to score it against the apps we test. Our TopDrama review explains what the listing does and does not say.
The apps in our ranking are distributed through the official Apple App Store and Google Play and are safe to install. As with any streaming app, check the subscription price and cancellation terms before paying, since billing is handled by the app provider.
With dozens of apps competing for your attention (and your wallet), picking the right one matters. Our team at ShortDramaTop downloads, tests and compares every major short drama app, evaluating each across dozens of criteria so you don't have to.
The best apps offer thousands of titles across every trending genre — billionaire romance, revenge, werewolf fantasy, palace intrigue, family drama — and refresh their catalogs with hundreds of new releases every month. We give extra weight to platforms producing original, high-quality content in English rather than relying only on dubbed imports.
Every app on this list is free to download, but they differ hugely in how much you can watch without paying. We measure how many free episodes you get per series, whether you can unlock content by watching ads or claiming daily rewards, and what a subscription or coin pack really costs if you decide to binge a full series.
Smooth playback, HD video, working subtitles and honest billing all factor into our scores. We also check language support — the top apps now offer subtitles and dubbing in English, Spanish, French and many more languages — and whether you can watch on the web as well as on your phone.
We provide honest reviews, information and comparisons to help you find the short drama app that suits you best.
